1.        DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACOLOGY


      The college was started in the year 1965. The staffs where recruited for the Department of Pharmacology in the year 1966 under the G.O.MS.NO.1054/Health dated 11.6.1966. Since then the department of pharmacology has been functioning very efficiently.

      Infrastructure

      Lecture theatre - The Department has one lecture theatre with 150 students capacity equipped with Audio-Visual aids

       

      2 Demonstration rooms with a seating capacity for 50 students each equipped with Audio-visual facilities

       

      An Experimental Pharmacology Lab along with a preparation room and smoking room for conducting animal experiments.

       

      Research lab - fully equipped (103 sq.mt.) with instruments for animal studies

      CAL lab – equipped with 10 computers with CAL software for Computer aided learning of animal experiments for UG students.

      Clinical pharmacology lab & Pharmacy -150 sq.mt. for conducting clinical trials

      Library cum seminar room: (with 235 books and journals) 59 sq.mt. with 25 seating capacity and journals for UG and post graduates learning.

      Animal house is air-conditioned and functioning as per guidelines of CCSEA with small animals such as mice and rats

      Adverse drug reactions monitoring centre (AMC) – is located in the department with facilities to report ADR

      MBBS – since 1965

      Competency Based Medical Education (CBME) curriculum with new NMC guidelines based UG teaching is done with various dimensions.

      Students are divided into small groups and assigned under mentors to aid in their learning (to overcome the difficulty in learning stress), personality development, carrier guidance and student’s projects.

      Adverse Drug Reaction Monitoring Centre (AMC)

       

       

      Our institution being upgraded from ADR reporting centre to ADR monitoring center under PVPI – IPC since FEB 2019

      Pharmacovigilance Committee was reconstituted and meeting held on March 2021.

      Pharmacovigilance Committee Meetings are conducted every month and Minutes of meeting were shared to IPC.

      AMC Roles:

      • Reported ADRs will be entered in Vigiflow software and compilation reports were shared to IPC.
      • Causality Analysis Committee - comprising Coordinator of AMC, one clinician & one pharmacist do the Causality Assessment
      • To ensure that every department is submitting ADR monthly report,
      • To audit the prescriptions prescribed by CRRIs/ PGs by the professors of concerned department
      • To sensitize CRRIs/ PGs/Staff nurses periodically

       

      Sensitization Programmes by AMC, ChMC:

       

      1.      All CRRI & PGs were sensitized on ADR reporting upon admission during their orientation programme

      2.      PHARMCOVIGILANCE WORKSHOP was conducted on 14.6.2018 to create awareness among faculties, clinicians, PGs, CRR, paramedics

      Animal house:

      Animal house is registered in CPCSEA with registration number   376/GO/ReBi /S/2001 /CPCSEA for the purpose of research for education on small animals.

                  Separate animal house is located behind the department building with air-conditioned rooms is functioning. Small animals such as mice and rats are maintained for the research and education purpose of post graduates.


      IAEC has been formed and Periodic IAEC meetings are conducted.
