WORLD PATIENT SAFETY DAY CELEBRATED ON SEPTEMBER
17TH 2022
WHO WORLD PATIENT SAFETY DAY is an
important global event to improve Global patient safety challenge action plan
2021-2030.This year the theme is medication safety and the slogan is Medication without harm.
To
commemorate this event a Health Care
Quality Conclave - World Patient Safety
day -2022 for Chengalpattu district was hosted by Govt.Chengalpattu Medical
College Hospital,Tamilnadu,India jointly with DQAC,NABH Accredition
Cell,Chengalpattu Medical College Hospital and CAHO on 7th September
2022.
The programme was conducted to raise the awareness of medication harm ,to engage all the stakeholders and to empower and engage patients in their treatment The District Collector Mr.Rahul Nadh IAS presided the event.The district level health care team comprising of Dean , Govt.Chengalpattu Medical College Hospital ,the JDHS and DDHS of Chengalpattu District along with the team of doctors,nurses,pharmacists and para medical staffs, NABH Team, member of CAHO , representative from private hospitals participated in the event.
● A topic on Improving Health Care Quality Standards was presented by Dr.Anuradha Pichumani,NABH Assessor Isqua expert ,quality professional wing of CAHO .
● Medication safety projects was inaugurated for Doctors on Prescription audit, Nurses on Drug Administration, Pharmacists on Storage of drugs quality team on audit and patient engagement in medication safety for patient care givers and discussed plans to implement the same.
● Workshops on Hand hygiene, bio medical waste management, PPE,Surface Disinfectant,and safe injection practices were conducted to sensitize the participants on medication safety.
● A pledge for patient safety was taken by all the health care providers of the event and the pledge banner was signed by District Collector and by all the participants The pledge to prevent medication harm was taken in Tamil language by more than 500 participants.
● Poster competition on theme Medication safety was conducted for medical and paramedical students to involve their participation in improving medication safety.
● Panel discussion on “Learning from near miss incidents- Improving Medication Safety” was conducted by experts from various departments to sensitize the group to prevent future incidents.
The program was first of his kind
where all levels of health care providers from primary,secondary and tertiary
levels of health care providers care together for improve a comprehensive
health care to the district.Chengalpattu District of Tamilnadu ,India
privileged to have hosted the grand
event on this day.
